Boundaries

An Equine Assisted Mental Health Workshop

Date: July 15 2023 9:00 - 11:00 Cost: $110 (early bird before April 1 $95)

Come and learn about that thing we’re all talking about these days from the ones who do it best! Horses are experts at clear communication and limit setting from a place of calm assertiveness rather than anger, and from them, we can learn these skills as well.

Participants will be able to explore their own emotional response to limit setting, have educational discussions about the ins and outs of boundary work, and learn body-based practices for personal empowerment, all with hands on practice time with the herd. As with all of our workshops, no previous horse experience is required.

Your Body in Therapy

An Embodiment Workshop for Mental Health Professionals

Date: August 5 9:00-3:00 Cost: $225

More and more the mental health field is adopting language like "integration", "nontraditional therapies", and "embodied approach". We are told that our bodies are the key to overcoming trauma, that they keep the score, and that we should be doing “bottom up, not top down” work.  First, however, we must tap into what our own body is saying. Our bodies truly are our greatest clinical tool, and they are often incredibly underused. We as therapists cannot help our clients stay regulated and present if we are not strongly anchored in our own bodies. This workshop is designed to give an experiential look at what it means to remain embodied. Attendees will walk away with hands-on practice tuning into their own somatic experience and new skills to stay grounded and connected with clients on a neurological level.

This workshop meets the NASW requirements for 5 contact hours. Hours are not preapproved; attendees are responsible for maintaining copies of the agenda and any other handouts in case of audit.

As with all of our workshops, no previous horse experience is required.
